      • Assortment of cotton fabrics to make one 12″ x 12″ envelope pillow cover
    • Level: Adult Beginner
    • A sewing machine and supplies needed to complete the project will be loaned to you for use in this class.
    • Please read all Studio Terms & Conditions before registering for class. This class is for adult beginners who have never sewn before and want to learn how to use a sewing machine. This is our most basic class. You’ll learn the basics of sewing projects complete with terminology, necessary tools & notions, how to cut and prep your fabrics for sewing and the importance of pressing. In class students will sew on both mechanical and computerized sewing machines to better understand how they work and what are the similarities and differences in each kind of sewing machine. At the end of class you will have the confidence to tackle more projects on your own! The course fee includes use of sewing machines, all supplies and materials and everything you need to go home with your own 12″ x 12″ throw pillow.This class covers the following topics:
      • Sewing machine overview
      • Machine parts & function
      • Threading machine
      • How to wind & install a bobbin
      • Sewing machine needle basics
      • Basic info on thread selection for projects
      • How to follow a seam guide and sew straight
      • Understanding stitch length & width
      • How to make a simple hem
      • How to sew & pivot at corners
      • Importance of pressing fabric & seams
      • Make an envelope pillow cover in class
